American Bitcoin, the bitcoin mining and treasury firm backed by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., swung to a loss in the fourth quarter.
The company, formed in March with its spinoff from another bitcoin miner, reported a net loss of $59 million in the fourth quarter. American Bitcoin earned $3.5 million in the third period. Revenue rose 22% to $78 million in the three months ended December from $64 million in the September quarter.
For the full year, the company lost $153 million on revenue of $185 million. The loss was primarily driven by a $227.1 million mark-to-market loss on its bitcoin holdings.
